Course Description:


This course explores the historical development of community health nursing and focuses on the individual, family, and community as client. Principles of health promotion and disease prevention are analyzed through the lens of epidemiology. Diverse nursing roles and practice settings are examined through practice experiences in the community. This course satisfies the college’s liberal arts and sciences requirements.

Prerequisites: All 300-level nursing classes successfully completed with a C or better (301, 302, 304, 306 and 307); your degree program plan must be concurred before you can take NUR 408 or NUR 409.

This course is only available to Empire State College nursing program students.

NOTE: Self-registration is not available for the clinical courses. You will be manually registered by the college once all the requirements are completed and approved.
