Course Description:


Explore loss and grief including an understanding of the theories, the process if dealing with major life losses; the roles of ritual, faith and remembrance in a cultural context. The course will deal with determining when grief becomes dysfunctional and how the Human Services Worker can appropriately determine if a referral is needed for a client. Students will be required to complete several written assignments and multiple discussions in the course.

Prerequisites: Introductions to Human Services or Psychology, or an entry-level Sociology course.
