BIOTERRORISM (SMT-272112)
Course Description: This eight-week course will cover the study of some biological organisms and toxins that may be used as weapons. This includes examining the type of organism (bacteria, virus, etc.) and the mechanism by which they are harmful. In the process, students will study the means by which their use can be prevented, appropriate defensive strategies and therapies that can be used to treat those who are affected by an attack. Not covered in this class are the social, governmental, economic or political aspects of bioterrorism. Students planning to use financial aid: Students taking courses that are shorter than the standard term (at least 15 weeks in length) may have their federal loans reduced and/or state aid reduced or cancelled.
