LANGUAGE AND CULTURE (CUL-224364)
Course Description: Language and Culture is a course designed to help students become familiar with the theory and research related to issues such as 1) the ways in which language behavior reflects diverse cultural patterns; 2) the role of language in the processes through which children and adolescents become members of particular groups in society; 3) the relationship between class, race, gender, institutional setting, and linguistic choice; and 4) the educational implications of culturally based variation in students’ preferred styles of speaking and writing. This course fully meets the General Education requirement in Humanities. This online course is offered through Online Learning.
