STATISTICS FOR THE SOCIAL SCIENCES (SOC-281424)

Course Description:


This course enables students to understand and apply statistical techniques as applied to social science research questions, using statistics to understand social phenomena. The course will present a foundation for when, how, and why different statistical techniques are utilized to answer social research questions. Course content will include descriptive and inferential statistics, as well as measurements of association between variables, and SPSS software will be utilized to conduct statistical analyses.

Prerequisites: The completion of a course in social science research methods is strongly encouraged before taking this course. Also, completion of a college-level algebra course is strongly recommended.

This course fully meets the General Education requirement in Mathematics.

NOTE: This course was previously offered as Social Science Statistics. Students who have taken 281424 should not take Statistics for the Social Sciences.
