Thomas P. Mackey is dean of the Center for Distance Learning, SUNY Empire State College. His research and publications are in areas such as teaching with technology, information literacy, Web-based multimedia, and assessment. He has presented at numerous conferences, contributed to book chapters and has published several publications in peer-reviewed journals, including College & Research Libraries, Computers & Education, The Journal of General Education, College Teaching, Rhizomes, The Journal of Information Science, The Journal of Education for Library and Information Science, First Monday and the Journal of the Library Administration and Management Section, of the New York Library Association.

Mackey is editor of four books with Trudi Jacobson for Neal-Schuman Publishers: "Information Literacy Collaborations That Work" (2007), "Using Technology to Teach Information Literacy" (2008), "Collaborative Information Literacy Assessments: Strategies for Evaluating Teaching and Learning" (2010), and "Teaching Information Literacy Online" (2011). His prior experience is in faculty development, a first-year experience program, and writing instruction. He has worked with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education as a member of the advisory panel on information literacy to develop a guidebook on information literacy titled "Developing Research & Communication Skills: Guidelines for Information Literacy in the Curriculum" (2003).

In 2009, Mackey completed the SUNY Academic Leadership Program in Hamilton, N.Y.
