Description: In the United States, private security employs more than 1.5 million people, while public law enforcement has less than half that number. This course will examine time-tested management methods and determine how they apply to the challenges facing security in the private sector and internal security in public and non-profit agencies. Students will use case studies in order to involve them in analyzing, evaluating and solving asset-protection problems. Ensuring the security of information systems and investigating breaches in computer security and the role of the private sector in preventing and responding to terrorism will also be studied.

Prerequisites: Management Principles and either Introduction to Criminal Justice or experience as a security supervisor.
