Description: Examine the social, economic, and political development of the United States from Reconstruction of the South after the Civil War to the present, with particular emphasis on the transformation from an agrarian nation and minor member of the international community to an industrial world power. Understanding the nature of current national issues is a key goal. This course meets the general education requirement in American History.
