Description: Understand the Constitution as the enduring plan for American national government and the federal system of governance in the United States. Course materials illuminate the historical development of important constitutional doctrines. Read liberal and conservative contentions relating to current difficulties of resolving controversial constitutional (and social) questions. Requires a thorough understanding of the American political system and a basic understanding of the United States Constitution.

Prerequisite: The United States Constitution: A Survey, or another college level constitutional law course.
