Description: Explore the history, culture, and social impact of the Internet and changing telecommunications technologies. Gain the skills and knowledge necessary to begin exploring the Internet/World Wide Web and use it as a source of information. Learn to assess the quality of the materials you find, appreciate the variety and complexity of social issues inherent in these changes, and explore the application of these changing technologies in a field of your own interest. Research your questions using both traditional and Internet sources. Activities will include online discussion, critiques of articles found on the World Wide Web, and a research paper in which you will examine the possible uses of these technologies in your own field.
