Description: Study the efforts of working people to organize for collective action in America, analyzing the institutional history of American unions and the historical figures who dominated the labor movement from colonial times to the present. Allows for advanced study through the substitution of short research papers for essay written assignments. Equivalent to the United States Labor History course offered at The Harry Van Arsdale Jr. School of Labor Studies of Empire State College.

This course fully meets the general education requirement in American History only for students scoring above 84 on the New York State Regents exam in United States History and Government.
