Description: Gain an understanding of: 1) fundamentals of accounting; 2) transformation of accounting information into financial statements for use in making decisions; 3) role and implementation of internal controls; 4) effective use of financial information; and 5) communication of management needs to accounting professionals. An optional computer component is included.

The course is designed for students who do not aspire to a career as an accountant or CPA but who do desire a working knowledge of accounting terms and practices. This course will be useful for students with non-business concentrations such as human services whose program of study will require knowledge of accounting in order to work with accounting professionals. This is an intensive study. Accounting for Decision Makers (111956) cannot serve as a substitute for Accounting 2 (112024 or 212064) for fulfilling prerequisite requirements for other accounting courses.
