This course will explore how the law has defined sexuality including what is seen as legitimate sexual practices, acceptable desires, and sexual identity. In addition it will examine how these categories and definitions are challenged in practice (eg. through discrimination cases, same sex marriage debates, etc.) The course will focus on the legal aspects of these sexuality-related issues and on how the law can be changed and how it has changed in the past to accommodate/protect/validate all sexualities (eg. the law and the transgendered movement).

Prerequisite: Introduction to Law and the Legal System or equivalent knowledge or experience.
