Description: Study the concepts of limits, derivatives, and integrals through intuitive and graphical arguments rather than through mathematically rigorous derivations. Focus on applications in the business area, including minimum-maximum problems, present value calculations, and inventory models. Using a standard text and graphing software or calculator and assigned problems, learn techniques to compute derivatives and elementary integrals of algebraic, logarithmic, and exponential functions.

Prerequisite: A working knowledge of algebra, including factoring and solving algebraic equations (e.g., CDL Algebra course or its equivalent). NOTE: Requires a computer which can run MATHCAD software.

This course fully meets the general education requirement in Mathematics.

NOTE: November 2004 Term is the last time this course will run. It is being replaced by 272104, Calculus 1.
