Description: This course will help students become familiar with the expectations for academic studies at the college level and Empire State College studies. The learning activities include the following themes: College realities for the motivated learner, Empire State College learning resources and support services, active and independent learning skills, and assessment of learning effectiveness. The course utilizes a "learning by doing" approach to guide the students to develop the needed resources and practice important college study skills. For example, through group and individual projects, students will have opportunities to assess their learning styles and study skills, to collaboratively develop strategies and resources for successful Empire State College studies, and to strengthen critical thinking, critical reading, effective writing and technology literacy abilities. New Empire State College students may find this course beneficial in helping them make transition to the college and prepare for academic success. CDL matriculated students can use this course as part of their Educational Planning credit.

Important Note: this course was renamed effective the FA 1 2015 term and was formerly offered as EDU-232022 Introduction to College Studies. Students who have successfully completed 232022 should not enroll in this course.
