Description: Contemporary Global Social Issues explores various social problems that cross national boundaries and their effects on society. This course begins by examining the definitions of social problems and globalization. Students then investigate a number of issues that have a global scope including sovereignty, food production, militarized conflicts, human rights, global climate change, transnational migration and work, and transnational social movements.

Prerequisites: at least one course in the discipline of a social science concentration. Upper level college reading and writing skills.

NOTE: Effective Spring 2018, this course no longer meets the General Education requirement in Social Sciences.
