Course Description:


Understand the Constitution as the enduring plan for American national government and the federal system of governance in the United States. Course materials illuminate the historical development of important constitutional doctrines. Read liberal and conservative contentions relating to current difficulties of resolving controversial constitutional (and social) questions. Requires a thorough understanding of the American political system and a basic understanding of the United States Constitution.

NOTE: This course should not be taken unless you have completed one of the following two prerequisites: 163344 The United States Constitution: A Survey or another college level constitutional law course.

Prerequisite: The United States Constitution: A Survey, or another college level constitutional law course.

This course fully meets the general education requirement in Social Science only for students scoring above 84 on the New York State Regents exam in United States History and Government.
