Course Description:


Study three important areas within the field of biology: genetics, evolution, and ecology. Understand how models and theories are developed, tested, and become useful in science. Focus first on human genetics, including some exploration of molecular genetics and genetic engineering. Then study Darwin's theory of organic evolution and examine the types of scientific evidence supporting this theory. Explore aspects of contemporary research and controversy, the creation and disposal of chemical and hazardous waste, and food supply and the problem of world hunger. This course meets the general education requirement in Natural Science.
