Term(s) Offered (Subject to Change) : Nov.
Focus on the theories, processes, and forms of professional communication. Learn the variables that need to be accounted for in the communication act (e.g., cultural differences, audience, role, etc.) and learn to consider these variables as the first step in the communication process. Students will apply theory and process to create a portfolio of professional documents (letters, memos, resumes, proposal, report, executive summary) based on real-life situations. In all cases, an attempt is made to match course assignments with actual business or professional writing to be used in the student's work or career.
Although there are no formal prerequisites, students should have a good grasp of basic writing skills.
Note: November Term 2004 is the last term this course will be offered in print version. In future terms, it will be offered only online (222304).
