Course Description:

Learn essential writing skills such as how to create ideas, choose a focus for writing, develop and organize ideas, and choose appropriate language for the writing purpose and situation. Prepare to write competently in any academic discipline by focusing on writing skills within the context of the larger writing process. Learn how to approach and work through a writing task from prewriting through revising for both research and personal interest essays.

This is NOT a remedial writing course. Students must write grammatically and read with understanding in order to be able to learn reading, writing, and thinking skills on the college level.

Those with more than four introductory composition credits should select a more advanced study in writing.

This course fully meets the general education requirement in Basic Communication.
