Course Description:


This is an upper-level course. You will be expected to have had some study of literature at the undergraduate level. In this course, you will learn about anti-Semitism and the underlying causes and impacts that led to and resulted in German persecution and annihilation of Jews and other "undesirable" people. Despite the horrific circumstances imposed by the German government, the human spirit found expression in artistic efforts in art, music and literature. you will gain an appreciation for the role that the arts, and literature in particular, can play in explaining and understanding the human condition and the ability of people to endure even the most severe hardship.

This course fully meets the General Education requirement in Humanities.
