Description: Gain a greater understanding of death and dying through case studies of people facing their own death or the death of a loved one. Ten half-hour tapes based on a PBS series aired in the autumn of 1999 will be integrated with Kastenbaum's Death, Society, and Human Experience. Explore a range of North American cultural perspectives on death, within the context of such current issues as AIDS, death by violence, suicide, assisted suicide, hospice care, end-of-life decision making, and children's reactions to death.
