Description: In this course, students will compare and contrast business practices in the United States and Russia. Areas to be covered will include the following: market structures, national income, money and banking, general accounting practices, approaches to management and decision-making, consumer behavior, advertising, intercultural communication, ethics, and elements of international trade. Students will also do two group projects. In the first, students will explore and specify the process of starting and financing a real life business in each country. In the second, students will mount an advertising campaign to sell the same product in both countries. Ideally, students will be assigned the country other than their own. Individually, students will be asked to reexamine stereotypes they had of how business is conducted in each country.
