Description: Plan the particulars of your degree: courses, credit amounts, etc. Learn what you can do at SUNY Empire State College in terms of degree design, and research other colleges along with ESC to develop ideas about your degree design. Develop a specific degree plan and rationale essay explaining that plan, documents which then go to an Assessment Committee for approval. Readings and investigations will deal with the nature of college degrees, academic and professional expectations for degrees, and breadth/integration/progression. Students will examine and evaluate sample student degree plans and rationale essays. By the end of the course, students will post their own degree and essay drafts for feedback and discussion. Students will be expected to participate in discussions at least twice a week.

Note: This course is open to matriculated Center for Distance Learning students only, and only with Mentor/Advisor permission.
Pre-registration information: Educational Planning Online

Students matriculated in the Center for Distance Learning now have the option of doing EP211 and EP212 online as SUNY Learning Network (SLN) courses as well as in print. What's the difference? The online versions offer you the opportunity to discuss educational concepts and issues with other students as well as with your mentor/advisor - the opportunity that you have in any online course.

Note: EP Online is offered only in the January, May, and September terms.

You need to two things in order in enroll for either EP211 or EP212 online:

1. A computer that meets the system requirements for online courses.

2. Permission of your CDL mentor/advisor, which you need to enroll in any EP course.
