Description: Examine human service management from several perspectives. The writings of major contributors to the field of human service management are considered; major theoretical and ethical orientations are examined; and the applications of different management theories and models are explored. Based on interviews with managers in local organizations, students illustrate how each of the primary management functions of planning, organizing, staffing, leading, controlling, decision making, and problem solving are applied in human service provider, payor, and/or consumer organizations.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Human Services or equivalent knowledge.
