Description: Consider the history and principles of federal labor relations law and its relevance to both private and public sector labor relations. Gain an overview of the labor law and the parameters of decision-making as established legislatively and by the National Labor Relations Board and how these have guided the course of labor law in the United States.

Develop practical understanding of the law through knowledge of its principles and application and write assignments that apply the law to case studies. Topics covered in the course include: protected activity and unfair labor practices, representation elections and procedures, collective bargaining duties and good faith bargaining, economic actions including strikes and lockouts and employee-union relations.

Prerequisites: prior coursework in labor-management relations. This course is a "senior" level course and students should be prepared to work at that level.
