Description: Study television's distinctive features, programming, and effects. Acquire skill in making detailed and accurate observations of what is available to hear and see. Discover key editing and programming conventions. Become a more knowledgeable and selective viewer.

Review the types of statistics used in viewer preference and other types of polls, and learn to use information gained from graphs, charts, tables, and articles. Read and critically evaluate articles that use statistics to support assertions about supposed effects. This course meets the general education requirement in Social Science.

Students must be able to analyze and write at an advanced level. Access to a television set and VCR required.
