Description: This course will focus on the way psychology, the science of behavior, connects with health and disease. Topics to be covered in this course will include health enhancement, disease prevention and rehabilitation. The impact of, and issues concerning, stress, pain, drugs and social supports will also be addressed. The prevention of illness and individual responsibility will constitute a primary focus. Students will have an opportunity to look at theory and research and then reflect upon their own health concerns and actions regarding their personal health care.

Prerequisite: Introduction to Psychology, Health or equivalent experience.
