Description: This course explores the broad area of sociological inquiry known as the sociology of medicine. Students examine the relationship between health, illness and the social factors that may affect wellness. In addition to applying theories and models of society to issues of health and illness, students examine how health care is organized and delivered in the USA and in other capitalist, socialist and emerging societies.

Prerequisites: At least one foundation course in Sociology.
