Description: Explore the nature, determinants and socioeconomic impact of collective bargaining and labor-management relations in the United States. Attention is devoted to the procedural and substantive aspects of the collective bargaining process and the settlement of labor-management disputes. Subject material focuses on the structure, issues and activities arising from the establishment of the union and the bargaining relationship; contract negotiations, gamesmanship and the problems of reaching an agreement; and administration of the contract.

In addition, this course has applications to other specialized areas of study: Business Policy: A Team Based Approach, Human Resource Management and Development, International Business, Organizational Behavior and Personnel Management for the Fire Service.

Prerequisite: at least one study in management.
