Description: Learn essential college writing skills and concepts such as how to create ideas for writing, choose a focus, create a thesis sentence, develop and organize ideas, and revise essays from draft to final version. Prepare to write competently in any academic discipline by focusing on writing skills within the context of larger writing processes. Learn how to approach and work through a college essay-writing task from prewriting through revising. Complete four essays, one of which requires research. Apply college writing concepts in discussion of writing samples.

8-week version: Students will be expected to post working thesis sentences for peer and instructor feedback.

15-week version: Operates as a writing workshop course. Students will be expected to post at least one essay draft for peer feedback, and students are required to post all essay drafts for instructor feedback before submitting final versions.

This is not a remedial writing course. Those with more than four introductory composition credits should select a more advanced study in writing.
