Description: Networks have become pervasive as communication among computers has evolved into a requirement for businesses and individuals. While the scale of computing ranges from SOHO (small office/home office)-level to enterprise-level, there are some common core concepts. In this course, students will study SOHO computing fundamentals as an entrance into the world of networks. Topics will include: networking concepts, routers, hubs, switches, the more common SOHO operating systems, basic systems and network security.
Note: students must have appropriate computer skills including comfort with computer applications, and a basic level of familiarity with an operating system (managing files, changing control settings).
