Description: This four credit advanced course provides a thorough study of educational psychological research, and the factors affecting the process of human growth and development from primary school through high school as it pertains to learning. The focus of this course is on applying the methods of psychology to studying the processes of education. The primary perspectives covered in the course are: cognitive and linguistic theory; emotion, psycho-social, and moral development, diversity, motivation, exceptionalities, learning theories, behaviorism and cognitive learning theory, testing measurements and assessment. Major theorists from each perspective will be reviewed in some detail. Students will have an opportunity to connect or relate a particular developmental stage to one or more theories or perspectives of development which are of personal interest.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Psychology or Human Development.

NOTE: This course was previously offered as Educational Psychology. Students, who completed 284334, cannot take Educational Psychology: Advanced.
