Description: Computer software provides powerful tools for organizing, managing, displaying and analyzing information. Numerous jobs in business, human services and other fields require the ability to use spreadsheets or databases. Students will learn to use spreadsheet and database software to address information management and data analysis problems. Students will gain experience in organizing and displaying information, in writing arithmetic and logical expressions and in analyzing data.

Online delivery: A case study approach will be used in this online course, where you will complete research, discussions, writing and reading assignments within a structured course schedule. Online instructors facilitate interactive course discussions with you and other students. There are no preset meeting times. Please click here to register for this online course.

Competency Based Learning (CBL) delivery: A self-paced, self-regulated online approach to learning guided by an instructor and academic coach. The course is broken into several segments, topics, learning activities and quizzes. The final assessment is a project where students demonstrate what they have learned. Note: Microsoft EXCEL and Microsoft Access software (Office 365 versions) and a computer able to run the software.

Prerequisites: an introductory-level college mathematics study and the ability to use MS Windows and a word processor. Some experience with EXCEL would be helpful.
