MARGINAL PASS COURSE OUTCOME
Policies and Procedures Home > Academic Policies >

A contract evaluation that contains the words marginal pass or a grade below a B means that you received credit but that your work was considered marginally acceptable. An outcome of marginal pass will place a student on academic probation and trigger an academic review. (Please refer to the policy on academic probation and dismissal.)

Appeals from an outcome of marginal pass are made to the Program Chair. Appeals of the Program Chair’s decision may be made in writing to the Director of Graduate Studies.

A second outcome of marginal pass (including grades below B) will most likely lead to dismissal from the graduate program. Recommendation for dismissal is made by a faculty committee. Recommendations for dismissal from the graduate program are acted upon by the Director of Graduate Studies. Students may appeal dismissals to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, in writing.
