*Dissertation: Facilitating the “Self” of Adult Learners Moving Through Midlife Transitions:
How Higher Education Can Assist this Process
Dissertation is built on several assumptions, including: (1) adult education is reparative,
(2) The educational process can change the quality of the midlife transition in significant ways,
(3) Learning is development. Kegan’s (1994) developmental model of the “Evolving Self” is utilized.
