My Research Interests
My background can be described as interdisciplinary. My first graduate degree was in education, focusing on business. Although I taught in public school systems for a number of years I studied and developed an interest not only in K-12 education but also in the education, training and development of adults, especially in the workplace, and also in underrepresented populations in the workplace. My second graduate degree continued my interests and centered on organizational behavior (especially organizational cultures), adult learning, and diversity issues.
My dissertation looked at organizational cultures and people with disabilities in the workplace. Research with the U.S. Department of Labor, President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, allowed me to further my research of business organizations looking at how organizational cultures affect people with disabilities and by extension other diverse populations. I have presented and published on the subject of organizational culture and related topics (underrepresented populations, women in the workplace, learning organizations) at a variety of conferences and workshops.
