FILLS GEN ED REQUIREMENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY
This study introduces the history of U.S. Foreign Relations from the late 1890s, when the U.S. gained world power status, to the post Cold War era. It acquaints students with methods and approaches that historians have employed to study international conflicts and diplomacy. This study focuses on understanding why the U.S. has had its unique history of relations with other countries, and seeks to illuminate the elements (issues, events, personalities, ideologies, etc.) that have motivated U.S. policymakers to develop “rational” international relations strategies as well as to respond/react in particular ways to crisis situations.
