C. METHODS AND CRITERIA OF EVALUATION
All students, including those who take all their other studies and courses for graded credit, are allowed up to 12 credits of non-graded studies at Empire State College. Because Educational Planning is so varied and individualized, I recommend that you take this study as non-graded. However, if you request a letter grade, I will give one according to your achieved quality upon your successful completion of the study for credit.
Review the criteria of evaluation below. The student should fill in responses to each element that applies to him or her and discuss self-assessment of it with the mentor. The mentor will evaluate these areas independently, but will listen carefully to the student’s reasoning. The mentor’s final evaluation will determine the study outcome. It is important in this study to learn to assess your own progress and to understand the methods and activities you used to attain them. “Evaluation” should contain a brief qualitative descriptor such as “good,” “fair,” “excellent;” “incomplete,” and you should be prepared to say why you think so.
